To The Class of 1971
We became an actress, a business tycoon, a casualty of a car wreck. We cared for the sick and tended the poor, survived (or not) illnesses and broken relationships, raised children and became grandparents. We left high school as naive, inexperienced teenagers and went on to become accomplished doctors, lawyers, Indian chiefs (or at least, members of Indian tribes), artists, salespersons, pilots, entrepreneurs, Super moms and Dads. Tonight, at our UDHS'71 35th Reunion, we will mingle, once again, with former classmates and teachers and marvel in just how far we've come in those 35 'short' years.
What we all have in common tonight is the simple fact that we attended the same high school together. From that experience emerged memories - fond and sad - and a bond that compelled us to be here tonight.
I know I speak for the Reunion Committee when I say it was with great pleasure we organized this event for you, our classmates and guests, and our friends and teachers. During the 18 month Reunion planning period, we committee members and our volunteer helpers were in constant contact via the internet. This online "pre-reunion" allowed us to swap stories and memories, ranging from our teenage love experiences to procedures involving our over 50 year old colons! We got to know again - or for the first time - classmates with whom we shared our youth. Across time and distance, we became fast friends. We sincerely hope that as a result of our efforts, you too will reconnect with former friends and ignite new friendships.
We are so grateful for your attendance but even more appreciative of the kind and encouraging words and thoughts you sent our way during the planning. We trust that you will have a great time tonight - this it may, indeed, be the best attended, most fun Reunion ever (as I guaranteed)!
