Betsy’s parents found this photo and sent it to us about 5 years ago. Since we’ve been “band parents” for our three kids, there have been a lot of laughs seeing us in OUR uniforms!

I can't believe that I am over 35 years old, let alone out of high school that long. After graduation, I went to Pitt and just loved it. I majored in psychology and worked in that field for a short while and then ended up in the dental field where I met my husband Garry. We have been working together in his practice for 29 years now. We have two terrific children, Jackie,25,living in DC and Mathew, 23, living in NYC. I am so enjoying reconnecting with friends and can't wait to see everyone in November

We'll be thinking about all of you at the reunion as we'll be sitting in a rink in Michigan watching my daughter in a girls hockey tournament. My wife Lynne and I have three kids, AJ - 13, Danny - 11, and Emily - 9. After graduating from UD, I went to undergrad at Wittenberg in Springfield, OH, then dental school in Louisville, KY. Started a practice outside of Chicago where we stay busy in the "bleacher" phase of life. Best wishes to all of you and maybe we'll connect another time. Sincerely, Bob

From Sherry:
Nothing like waiting to the last minute to put in my info. Sorry, I don't have any pictures ready to add. Following HS I went to nursing school and received my diploma in nursing. While working at Chestnut Hill Hospital I completed my bachelors degree in Biology at Chestnut Hill College. I then went to work in pediatric critical care at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia. Eventually, I needed another BS in nursing in order to advance in my profession. So I went back to school and received my BSN from the University of PA. In the meantime I reconnected with an old neighborhood friend - Art Benica (UD 1973) - who turned out to be the love of my life. We were married in 1983 - and life with him gets better every year. I continued working in pediatric critical care but had now moved into nursing management. Later, I went back to school again and I received my Master's degree in nursing from the University of PA. Several years later, I was offered a position at DC Children's Hospital, so Art and I moved to the Washington DC area. We love it here - there's easy access to so many wonderful places and lots to do. Somewhere along the way - I decided it was time to return to school. In 2000, I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from The American School of Professional Psychology of Argosy University/DC. I am so Blessed to have a husband like Art - he is always so supportive and encourages me in all my endeavors. Since receiving the doctorate I have worked as a clinic director, director of training and conducted psychotherapy. I am currently on the faculty at Argosy Univeristy teaching primarily the psychological testing courses. I also maintain a private practice two days a week. Art and I love each other's company and want to have more time together. Therefore, we started our own business several years ago. Benica Enterprises is a global marketing company specializing in health, wellness, and beauty. We work with 10-12 individuals a year and facilitate their growth as leaders in the industry. It is so rewarding to help others achieve their goals. I am so looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up on their life events.

That's me on the right. On the first day of the rest of our lives after graduation, Hal Barbin, Gary Daniels, Greg Hardin and I actually caddied at the US Open which was at Merion that year (I also remember Vic Turkot and his little brother Billy worked at the tournament). All our golfers made the cut, but probably the most recognizable name today was Hal's employer, Lanny Wadkins. Today the idea that someone like me could caddy at the world's greatest golf tournament would be pretty ludicrous (like my golf game). Fast forward 35 years. I have been at Prudential Financial for 31 years, and with Kathi for almost as long. We have 3 great kids: a music teacher, an engineering whiz, and a future rock star (do you need a band for the reunion?). Kathi and I do a lot of volunteer work in music and theatre, and we have been lucky enough to be able to perform in such venues as Carnegie Hall, the PNC Bank Arts Center, and Camden Yards. I am thrilled to regain contact with the Class of '71. I remember how proud I was in 1976 that our class produced an Olympian. Catching up now on classmates' exploits has been great, and I'm still proud. I hope to see as many of you as possible in November (even the ones who used to kick my butt).

From Joe:
After HS it was on to Penn State where I met my wife, Kathy. Graduated from PSU in '75 in Electrical Engineering and received a job working for the Federal Communications Commission in Maryland. That only lasted 1 year and then it was on to work for the next 30 years at Delphi Automotive in Kokomo, Indiana. While in Indiana I went to school part time to receive my MBA from Ball State U. in '81 and MSEE from Purdue U. in '88. I retired from Delphi this year and am working at my new job with Niles Audio in Miami, FL. My family currently remains in Indiana to finish the school year. On the personal side, my 30th wedding anniversary to Kathy is coming up in 2006. She graduated from Coatesville HS in '73. We have 5 kids; 3 daughters and 2 sons. Only one left in HS, two in college and two are out of college working as teachers, one in Indiana and one in Tennesse. My hobby is soccer. My kids got me into it about 15 years ago when the local club needed help. I enjoy coaching, teaching and refereeing. On the ref side I have been able to do several HS state championship games and for college was added to the Big East list of refs last year. Got to do one Big East game last year but with my move to Florida with my new job I probably am not going to have as much time to put into my hobby as I would like.

From Mary Ellen:
I can't believe you found me! My parents & 3 younger sibs moved to Connecticut in '77. I've been married for almost 32 years and we've lived in 8 states! Husband Gary is in Engineering and I've told my kids that they are *Engineering Brats* (with all the moves- DuPont contracts go in 5 year cycles). Gayle just turned 28, lives in St. Louis, and blessed us with a gorgeous granddaughter, Ivy, born in July 2005. I LOVE being 'ganma' & spoiling her from afar. Michael is 24, lives w/ us and attends Lord Fairfax C.C. majoring in Art & Drama. My fondest memories of U.D. were Drivers Ed. w/ Teddy Zartmann (I goaded him about the nudist colony he spied on); Spanish 3 & 4 w/ Mr. Virgilio, who went nuts when I'd arrive late for class (after a smoke break). My standard answer: "No comprende!" Mr. Sisak snoozing through last period Gov't class. (I was afraid he'd DIE during class). My claim to fame was when I blew up Mr. Schwering's chemistry lab, accidently on purpose. Mr. Ritter got my Science gene going and, although I was a late bloomer in the college arena, I received my Medical Assistant Degree from Midstate College, Carthage IL in '97 after completing a Paralegal Degree there in '95. I was the Valedictorian for that class & also got a 'student of the month' plaque that I proudly display in the master bath (next to the loo!) I've worked for an Orthopedic Surgeon in Winchester VA for the last 5 years and enjoy doing Paralegal work on the side. Would enjoy hearing from classmates & I have to say that this website is fantastic! Many thanks to the committee! I'll try to send a "now" photo, please add my "then"...

From Steve:
I have been living in Stuart, Florida for 28 years. I am single and have two daughters and one grandson. I am a Professional Land Surveyor and have owned my own Company for 20 years. Florida is a great place to live with its beautiful scenery and weather (barring hurricanes). So I spend a lot of time enjoying out door activities. Running, bicycling, boating and of course riding my Harley - Davidson are some of my past times. Stuart was and is still a small town. So I have had a great opportunity with my work and to get involved with my community. Belonging to many social and civic organizations.

From Jeanne:
Bet I'm not the only one who found it impossible to summarize 35 years in a short and clever paragraph. Decided to stick to the basics: I am happily married over 20 years to Jerry Castafero and we have three beautiful daughters. Lauren is a sophomore at Penn State; her twin Kristin is at Bucknell. Our youngest, Kelly, is a junior in high school. I graduated from University of Maryland with an education degree. For the next few years I attended night classes and received a Masters from Beaver College. After teaching English and coaching hockey, basketball and lacrosse for 5 years, I depleted my retirement fund and went to Villanova Law School. I spent the next few years working at a major Philadelphia firm, Pepper, Hamilton & Sheetz, before going out on my own. Since then, I have been working for myself (very part time now), specializing in real estate law. On the side, I wrote children workbooks, Summer Smarts, that were purchased and are published by Houghton Mi! fflin. I am still very "into" sports and play on both a golf team and a paddle tennis team. I love to travel; we have rented a villa in the Tuscany valley for a couple weeks next summer. Life has been good. I look forward to seeing all of you, and am fascinated by some of your biographies! Jeanne
