From Scott:
My career as a stockbroker began right after Penn State. Oh… and what a wild ride that was for about 5 years. Trading Casino stocks during the mid 70’s was much like trading the internet stocks late 1999. Very explosive! After I blew up……. I started my own stock brokerage company “what’s called a Broker Dealer” and traded Tax Exempt and Government Bonds. Very Explosive! After I blew up – AGAIN – I went to work for CitiCorp as a Commercial Banker in their Asset Based Lending Group. Six years later, I found myself starting a small equipment finance company (boutique bank) specializing in Scientific Equipment that you might see on CSI – that has blossomed into a mid-size finance company. My wife Debbie of 23 years; daughter Rachel – 19 (at Penn State); and son Josh – 17 (freshman in High School) are the joys in my life. They let me go to work every day so I can buy them “Stuff”. I continue to play my guitar and sing to anyone who will listen. Can’t wait to see everyone at the reunion.

From Dan:
My life since Upper Dublin High School; the abridged edition. I’m writing this as I don’t think I’ll make it to Philly for Turkey-day. See, my family moved to Chicago while I was away at Penn State, and ever since I found them I spend Thank-you holidays with them in Chi-town. First, let me tell you life is good! My lovely wife has amazingly put up with me for 31 years. We have no kids, at least no two legged kids that we know of… I guess I’m not yet mature enough to be a “daddy”. Maybe someday… I love my job. I get to fly around the country in Lear jets (eat your heart out Kenny) and write multi-million dollar checks, and not with my money. I still have my ‘girlish figure’; I look six months pregnant. I have all my hair (starting to gray), my limbs are still attached, all my teeth are original issue… well, okay, when I rolled my convertible I broke one in half, but the dentist did a great job. It’s funny that I won the UD Driver-ed Rodeo as I have had a bad habit of wrecking vehicles and getting speeding tickets. Did I say I love NASCAR? If I could keep from almost killing myself, I might make it to retirement. I remember good times at UD, The Infamous Marching Kazoo Band, visiting the Pitcaren haunted mansion, putting a timpani stick through the drum head during my solo at the Academy of Music, Babes In Arms. But I also remember not so good times, like almost flunking senior History, putting a drum stick through…, having my heart broken and breaking hearts, dropping a piece of the stage set on my foot before Babes In Arms breaking my toe, several trips to the emergency room, being punched out by Jimmy for insulting Mary. Sorry Mary. I don’t remember what I said, but I have long since been reprogrammed by the Dr. Phil’s of society. Yes, Jimmy I forgive you, but the swelling of my nose never subsided and I continue to have a Rudolph nose. Just look at my photo… I marched in the Penn State Blue Band. Somehow I managed to graduate from Party State. I didn’t get my BS degree in Rocket Science as intended; I got it in Law Enforcement. I’ve worked with ATF, Illinois Juvenile Corrections (State & County), and supervised federal drug dealers sentenced to probation (consider the irony here) before becoming an insurance adjuster. I wanted to become Andy of Mayberry, but I couldn’t whistle. My wife and I live in Kansas City. We still have our horse ranch, although we are currently horseless. Hurray!!! Do you know it is cheaper to drive down the road throwing $20 dollar bills out the window than it is to own and show horses? I now have a “hole in the water” that I throw money into… actually I have two small boats, a ‘blow boat’, and a ‘stink pot’ (meaning ‘sail’ and ‘motor’ for those who don’t own either). Well, this is the abridged edition, so that’s it for now. Have a great time at the reunion! If I live to the next one, I’ll try to make it. Dan

From Gary:
Let’s do the “Time Warp Again”! I just can’t seem to get out of high school! I’m a high school teacher!!!!, more about that later. I remember the many lunch periods where Rich Matner, Harris Blizzard, Gary Pollen and I would recite every line from the latest Firesign Theatre and National Lampoon records. Do you really want to know what I have been doing??? I hate doing this..it's sooo embarrassing. I'll tell you what, I'll list it quickly and you just read through it really fast so we can get to the Now and have some fun. That way I have complied with Cindi's relentless hounding!!! LOL!!!! Where I’ve been: I majored in Adolescent Psychology at Penn State (6 year plan) and after a few years in the field (more of a mud pit) I kicked around in all kinds of jobs - including a few years in the arts (cameraman for WCAU-TV 10, video production, recording engineer, musician, guitar teacher) and retail before getting a math and history degree and teaching certifications. I keep in touch with a few friends from UD: Chris Duelfer (we were in many bands together) and Bruce Tuller. Scott Rovner and I still manage to jam at least once each year at the Philly Folk Fest “I GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!”. I still remember the gig Scott and I did in HS at the Outback 1800 playing Simon & Garfunkel to a hardcore Country & Western audience. After a half hour of shouts from the cowboy hat N boot wearin’, and possibly gun-totin’ crowd to play Johnny Cash, the bartender took pity on us and served us up some cold ones. We barely got out alive! I backed into teaching through the help of Bruce Tuller (Janet- he still is witty, feisty, & sardonic) who recommended that on my days off from the recording studio (ego satisfaction was high-pay was nil) to do substitute teaching at Wordsworth Academy. I liked it and have spent 25 years in the classroom teaching high school computer science, math, and social studies. I had a heck of a week last May 2005. I defended my dissertation on Weds, the 18th and on Sunday the 22nd I was married to my beautiful wife Cathy (our 1st is due 12/28!). Look forward to seeing everyone!

From Nancy:
So…thirty-five years have come and gone, and I guess I haven’t changed all that much, as the pictures show. The last reunion I attended was in 1981 when people teased me for being so smart, what was I doing being an art teacher? Well, I am now in my thirtieth year of teaching art at the same high school in suburban Boston, and retirement is about five years away! When working with adolescents, there is never a dull moment. Currently I teach Graphic Design on computers and Advanced Placement, and I chair the Visual Arts department of seven people including myself. In 1984 I took a leave of absence to study Graphic Design in Santiago, Chile. It was a wonderful learning experience sponsored by Rotary International. Since then I have returned twice to visit friends I made there, and get to know a boy that I sponsor through Children International. Outside of work I am committed to my church (Congregational) where I serve as a deacon, sing in the choir, and play handbells. I do volunteer work and get as much exercise as possible at the local YMCA. In good weather I go biking and do gardening, and I have a fetish for whitewater rafting. (28 trips so far!) During the summers off I vacation and paint watercolors of my travels. I’ve visited most Spanish speaking countries and had some wild times, especially during the year I lived in Chile under Pinochet’s military regime. Most recently I spent three weeks in northern Spain, traveling part of the time with my 25-year-old nephew, enjoying the cuisine and the sights which included Santiago de Compostela. I visit my parents in Lansdale about 6 times a year and occasionally see my brother who works at observatories in Chile and Arizona. His wife is Chilean and my niece and nephew were born in Chile, which is another reason I decided to study in the same country as they were living. (They were 3 and 5 while I was there – now they have both finished college!) Still single after all these years, I live near Boston in an ethnically diverse neighborhood by the ocean and see many beautiful sunrises (and moonrises) over the water. Through my job and my church I have a very strong network of single and married friends, and I hope that after this reunion I can rekindle a few more of those! Thanks to all on the reunion committee who helped make this possible and probably the best reunion ever!

Upper Dublin, The Good The Bad & The Ugly. The bad & the ugly I am referring to would be my grades. The good would be the many friends I made and retain to this day. Six weeks ago I received a phone call from Robert "Vic" Kaithern asking me to help the reunion committee find some classmates who are determined to stay in the witness protection program. Along with some amateur sleuths, we have some pro's hunting you. We have Perry Aka"The Dog" Ritter. This guy has phone books from the 60's. If you are alive, he will sniff you out! We have Donna " the queen of reverse look-ups and computer skills" Senopoulos . Along with Cindi "I have a great long distance phone plan" Muhlrad Fabricant,  and Melinda "my husband made me do it" Wolff , we also have Chrissy "trigger delete finger" Casanave Connolly. I cannot forget Michael  "I'm still looking for a ski mountain in Florida" Powell.  Last but not least bringing it up the rear, we have Ken "what the hell was I thinking when I E- mailed that to Gary" Reese. For those of you still in the program and who have caller id., I won't mention the rest of our team. We will find you!! I must tell those of you thinking about not attending the reunion, reuniting with classmates I have not seen in years has been nothing short of amazing. The energy level this committee is putting into our reunion is higher then I was then. I have not laughed this hard since high school and was getting in trouble for it.  I am looking forward to a great weekend.

I am married to Eileen who is from a family of 16 from New York. She is number 10 of the 16 children, so you could say I married a "10", and I did!! (right dear?) Eileen is a senior project manager and director of real estate for H&R Block northeast division. This comes in very handy at tax time. We have 3 wonderful children. Jacqueline 23 and just married,  2 boys, Hunter 7 and Gary 5. Have to keep up with the Reese's you know!! I started a limousine company 4 years ago so I can always have a job if social security goes broke. The business keeps me just busy enough. I have driven for rock bands, movie stars, professional athletes, as well as many interesting executives, (and Ken Reese??)

For fun I joined Camelback Ski Patrol 6 years ago, so when I am not busy in the limousine that's where you will find me in the winter. Come on up, you CAN do it!!!

Well that's it from me, I encourage you all to do yourself a flavor and come to our reunion!!!!

Here's a quick update of my interesting life since U.D.! Graduated from Muhlenberg College, worked odd jobs to save money then rambled all around the U.S. mostly in a haze/daze with Chris Duelfer, hitch hiked to Central America, almost died of malaria, rode my bicycle up the coast of California, settled in the Redwoods for a while, Rich Demaria sent me $20 which got me back East, taught highschool for a year in S.C., then worked as a hospital "orderly", taught yoga at a rec center, studied, got into med school in Charleston, S.C., married Joan Letizio, had 2 daughters, went to U.of VA Dept of Family Medicine for my specialty degree, had a bluegrass band and played around Chalottesville, VA for 3 years, got divorced, came here to the lovely Shenandoah Valley (Staunton,VA), fell in love with my now wife and inherited 2 sons, coached wrestling 10 years in the highschool, have a private family practice, 2 grand children, live on a beautiful little farm of 35 acres with a river, fly fish always, play my guitar and enjoy life! Think about my old friends from U.D. a lot. Some who I have been able to get together with since highschool include Paul Bauerlein (lots of fun and music since 8th grade), Rich Demaria ("Scruff"-many good memories!), Chris Duelfer ("Duelf"-my good friend during college and the wandering years), Jimmy Fell (my mischievous buddy from all the way back to 3rd grade!), Mark Wilmore from as long back as I can remember-came to Staunton on his motorcycle 20 years ago-where are you now?, Gary Scarpello came to visit me in med school to party!, Ricky Scott-college roomate-where are you? Kim Lear called me a few times and next thing I know he's gone-so sad. Kim, I hope you're in drummer's heaven! Remember those days of The Guild and Dark Sun. Battle of the Bands-well I do! Wonderful! I have a poster on my wall right next to me of a Jimi Hendrix concert we went to. Catch this-tickets were $3,$4and $5!!! Are we getting old?-naaa. See you at the reunion!

My years of high school were spent somewhat on the fringes since I was dating a ‘college’ man. (Brian - UD class of ‘69). Much of my time was spent figuring out how to get to Bloomsburg to see him on weekends. I attended Susquehanna University (28 miles from Bloomsburg) and graduated with a degree in Political Science. Upon graduation Brian and I were married (now for 31 yrs!), and I started substituting . After 2 years of H---, I got into programming, worked at CONRAIL for 7 years and was able to do consulting work at home while the kids were growing. Brian has just started his 33rd year teaching 5th grade in Philadelphia.  Nick, 22, is a graduate of The University of Maryland, and currently works in the area. He and his girlfriend moved into our third floor and Brian and I are enjoying their company. Our daughter Casey is 20 and a junior at West Chester. She comes homes as often as her party schedule allows! We have been back in Upper Dublin for 14 years. We were lucky enough to grab the farm house in the middle of Aidenn Lair Park. Unluckily, I was diagnosed with MS 20 years ago. At first we were pretty much able to ignore it, but for the past few years I’ve been forced to spend my days in a wheelchair.

My memories of my time at UDHS are hazy but as I read the blurbs on the ‘Then And Now’ page bits and pieces start to come back. I’d be surprised if many of you remember me from school but as I read some of the correspondences I have begun to get a sense of who we have all become - it is quite remarkable and not what I would have expected in 1971. After graduating I worked a few years in the area then moved to Colorado, where I lived and worked as a (starving) musician for a living until about 1980. I moved back to PA, married Peggy Jones (Pennridge ’75) and had three great kids between 1983 and 1987. The kids are fine and happy people. Peg has a dental practice management business and works like a crazy person. I have been doing computer and other technical work and playing music part time since 1983. We live in East Greenville, PA. This is the abridged bio. I have another canned version that goes into more detail. Please email me if you’d like. Kudos to the reunion crew for putting this all together and I’m very much looking forward to seeing you all again at the reunion.
