From Cyndy:
Hey, UDHS! I guess I’ve strayed a bit far from Philly – I am now located in Germany! I left the Philadelphia area the year after we graduated; my dad was transferred to the Midwest, where I finished college (Bethel, St. Paul, MN), met and married a wonderful, fun guy and great musician, Don Storrs. After a couple of years in the youth ministry in California during the 70’s (talk about culture shock! Good preparation for going overseas!), we headed to Belgium with our two children, to work with Greater Europe Mission. We have been in Europe since 1982. We reared our two children in Belgium (they both attended school entirely in French), and since 1997, we have been in Germany at Black Forest Academy (www.bfacademy.com), where I am teaching American Lit and Creative Writing; Don is the Director of Development. So now we’re learning German! Along the way I also picked up an M.Ed. at the U. of Sheffield, in England. Since leaving UD, I have keep in touch with Paul Frymoyer, and we had the privilege of hosting him and his wife both in our home in CA and in Germany. Last year we were able to visit them in NY. We also had George Braun in our home in CA; I was very sad to learn he’s no longer with us, along with Bruce Goldstein, who was also a very close friend of mine. Polly Maynard, and Bruce Tuller, what are you doing? And Chris Duelfer? And Carol Christie? Jill Hopkins? I am at a loss without my yearbook, which vanished in our first trans-Atlantic shipment. I recall Babes in Arms, Debate with Miss Harms and doing the newspaper with Bruce G. and Bruce T. I remember ‘way back to being at Sandy Run JrHS when they allowed us to wear slacks, only because there was no heat! Once the heat came on, I got in trouble for the oversight! By the end of HS, we were wearing “Hot Pants” to class – what a transition is such a short time! Hey, did we ever find out what (or who?!) caused that fire in our Sr. year? Mrs. Rich gave George Braun and me the keys to her car; we were so cold standing outside for so long. She was an inspiration to me, and someone who believed in me as a writer. I have always looked to her as an example as a teacher. And, her confidence finally paid off last year when my first creative piece was published! (I’ve done a couple of professional articles as well – yawn! – but I don’t really count them!) After 29 years, in 2004, I returned to Dresher with my husband, and had I not remembered the street names, I never would have found UD! Wow, has that place changed! I’m not sure I’ll be able to come to the reunion; we are an international boarding school and don’t do American holidays! Also, we are taking time to return to CA in May for our daughter’s wedding. But if any of you get to the Black Forest (we are located ½ hour north of Basel, Switzerland, and can see the Alps on our horizon), be sure to get in touch!

I was astonished to get your letter for the reunion. The last time something similar happened (a letter from for a Johns Hopkins University reunion from the US embassy here in Rome) the CIA was probably involved! In any case, to sum up my life in a nutshell, after doing a number of menial jobs to try to work myself through Temple University, I gave up and moved to Lyons, France in 1976 where I graduated from the Institut des Etudes Politiques in economics. 1980. I then did a masters' degree at John Hopkins University which sent me to Bologna 1982, Italy and Washington, D.C 1983. There I met the woman who became the love of my life and after chasing each other around the world in a number of countries and jobs, including the International Atomic Energy (Vienna) Agency and the UNDP (Ghana), in 1990, I managed to get myself sent to Rome by my then employer, and we finally got married. I now have two fairly young children (a daughter who is now 7 and a son who is now 9). I set up a linguist consulting company to teach business English to international companies and a translate technical documents at the beginning of the 1990's. I am a classic ex-patriate.

Hi everyone! After high school I graduated from Penn State. I got married to Michael in 1975 and moved to Long Island where I have loved living for 31 years. I work with my husband who is an optometrist. We have 3 wonderful children, David 25, Samantha 24 and Erica 21. We are presently enjoying our "empty nest", spending part of our time at our home in Highland Beach, Fla. I still enjoy music and go to every rock concert I can. ( I still think I'm 18 ). Looking very forward to seeing everyone in November.

It’s hard to believe that 35 years have come and gone since our high school graduation in 1971! What a journey life has been. Kudos to the reunion committee for such a great job on the website and for giving us all the opportunity to reunite and catch up. When I left high school I trained in the field of radiology at Chestnut Hill Hospital, and eventually ended up working for orthopedic surgeons in Doylestown. John and I were married in 1975, and after living in Chicago for several years, we moved back to Fort Washington. We’ve been blessed with 3 kids, Chad, now 26, Ryan 23, and Jenna, 20, all grads of UD! Our family has stayed active in Young Life, and for the past 18 years I have directed a kids program in the summers at a Young Life family ranch in the Colorado Rockies. Between our summers and quite a few winter and spring ski trips (let it snow!), I think we’ve traveled across the country by car nearly 50 times!! It is no surprise that our son Chad is working in Denver, and Jenna is at Colorado State University. Ryan, who is currently teaching in Upper Dublin, may join them real soon. Perhaps one of these trips John and I may just decide to stay! Over the years I have done freelance decorative painting and design, in both showcase homes and private residences. My latest passion involves designing artwork that is reproduced for the retail gift industry. I am looking forward to reading everyone’s story on this great website, and better yet, seeing you at the reunion.

Hi Everyone, I am happily married to a financial consultant and we have two daughters. We are living in a suburb outside of Los Angeles. After UD, I went to college in NYC - Pace University - and got into the publishing field. I have been able to combine my love of literature (thank you Mrs. Vandling) and my love of show business (thank you Ms. Harms) with a career handling publicity for books and authors. I arrange TV and radio interviews and book review coverage for many of my favorite writers. I was West Coast Publicity Director for Random House for almost 20 years, ran my own PR firm for 5 years, and am now Publicity Director for REGAN, a division of HarperCollins. Work has been great fun and I have had the pleasure of working with many interesting people, including both Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, John Irving, David Halberstam, Gore Vidal, Norman Mailer, Wolfgang Puck and many others on their publicity campaigns. Life is an adventure - our two children are from Russia and Romania, so my husband and I traveled there to bring them home. I feel lucky and am very blessed.

Well, it is good to see so many people have done so well after UD. I went to Penn State like so many of us, and while I graduated from Penn State, did my last credits at Florida Atlantic Univ after I was mugged at Penn State and decided it was time to leave. Decided NYC was the place to be for music, so went there, got a job, and joined some bands. Played a few clubs around the city, but not much came of it. Except I got a job at some of the music stores, and eventually moved to NJ where I live with my wife Deborah, and son Evan, who graduated from SUNY Oswego last year. Hope to see you all at the reunion.

Thirty-five years between “Then” and “Now” … yet it seems like “Then” was just “Yesterday”, doesn’t it? “Yesterday,” after graduating from UD, I attended the College of William and Mary in Virginia, where I was the rare Yankee amongst refined southern belles and gentlemen. I then taught middle school math (a career choice inspired by UD math teacher extraordinaire, Mr. Gurysh) and continued to keep my gills wet by coaching the girls’ swim team and by competing in masters’ swimming for several years. After getting an MBA from Temple, I ended up in the business world, eventually settling into Rohm and Haas’s computer department, where I could be found teaching, again. Three children later (boys, ages 15, 13, and 7), I now tutor math while my spouse continues to work and travel for Rohm and Haas. The flexibility of my part-time job allows me to pursue my passions, competing in masters’ swimming and ignoring the mundane tasks of cooking, cleaning, caring for my kids, etc. The rest of my “free” time has been consumed, pleasantly!, with organizing this reunion … with a great team of fellow classmates. We all can hardly wait to see you all in ’06! In the meantime, send us your “Then and Now” bios and high school reminiscences. And keep in mind, if you don’t attend the Reunion, you run the risk of becoming a topic of unbelievable conversation!

Once I was lost, and now I am found. Thanks to Perry Ritter, who tracked me down a few years ago through Herb (aka "Herbie") Haigh. Herb graduated UD in 1966. He was best friends with John Delp who dated and later married my cousin Debbie Keck (also a UD grad). I had a serious "crush" on him at age 16. He was 21, fell down the stairs as best man at John and Debbie's wedding and I fell in love. Always had something for those rebels without a cause. Which is probably what attracted me to Perry. Perry hung out with Gary Bechtel. Took me for my first ride on a motorcycle. Thought he would scare me driving - how fast? But I loved it. Started a long romance with bikes, short romance with Perry. He went off to the service and we all know the rest of that story. No hard feelings Anita. At 21 met my husband again in a psychiatric hospital. That would be Herb. Yes, he was driving a motorcycle, and yes he was still "a real bad boy" but "baby, he was a real good man". OK, gave it away, lived long enough in the south now to actually quote country music, but still listen to blues and jazz. Anyway, Herb was head master of the school, I had my first job in the field of psychology. Pretty much have stayed in that most of my career. Did 3 years of theater in college and in the 80's had a production company and hosted "Vacation Horizons" - one of the original cable travel shows. I've been in Florida since 1986. Followed my rothers, the Brady Bunch, to the sunshine state. They all left, but I staked a claim and eventually they all wandered back, along with my mother and father. I have two incredible daughters. Alyssa is 23 and has 2 kids of her own - Cameron (3) and Savannah (1). Rachael just turned 13, pray for me. I have a private practice in psychology and serve as the Executive Director of the Network of Christian Counseling Centers. Still do video production, but now it is training videos, not a vacation magazine. Miss the resorts. So that brings you a bit up to date. Last time I attempted this at the prompting of Michael Powell, who happens to be here in FL as well, I lost it before I posted it. So, I'll quit while I still have a screen. Look forward to reconnecting with all of you. Walk down memory lane. What was that song I danced to with Chester Derbyshire in 7th grade? No comments, please. And what was that song that Fred Kramer and Rusty Yust first learned to play? And were we really alive when Ina Goda da Vida was on the radio?

Life’s been good to me so far…. After surviving 2 weeks of Spring Break with Beena/Beena, I graduated from U.D. and went off to West Chester and received a B/A in Psychology. My first job after college was working with Tony Zecca at Northwestern Institute of Psychiatry (Tony and I have some interesting stories from here!) After deciding I wasn’t going to cure mental illness, I went off and started my career at Johnson and Johnson as a Sales Rep for McNeil Pharmaceutical. I moved to Canton, Ohio where I met my wife Ro. After a series of promotions, I ended up as Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Janssen Pharmaceutica, a Johnson and Johnson affiliate. Currently, I am Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development at our Corporate Offices in New Brunswick. NJ. I’ve been with J&J for 28 years and all things considered, they’ve treated me quite well. Ro and I have two children, Stephen, Jr. (it’s and Italian thing to name your son after yourself) and Katelyn (every female born in Boston between 1983 and 1986 is named Katelyn.) Both are graduates of St Joe’s (THE HAWK WILL NEVER DIE!!) Stephen works for Johnson and Johnson in Information Management and Katelyn works at St. Joe’s in their Human Resources Department. Ro and I play tons of golf and split our time between homes in New Hope, PA. Naples, Fla., and Ocean City!!
